We Care for Our Residents

We believe in the holistic development of each individual resident.

Self-Directedness

Self-directedness is being independent in managing their Activities of Daily Living (ADL), such as washing up after themselves, wiping down after meals, practising personal hygiene and more.

Active

Active is being healthy and staying engaged. Every Friday, walks to nearby parks for exercise and recreation help with emotional regulation, social interaction and community integration. The walks also provide opportunities for our residents to practise safety awareness with the support of accompanying staff. With the prevailing COVID-19 measures, the walks are currently suspended. However, daily walks within the SAAH compound and exercise activities are conducted on a regular basis.

Autonomy

Autonomy is important for self-esteem. Our residents are given choice-making opportunities to foster confidence, and inch them towards independence. Some examples of these opportunities include activity wear, snacks, refreshments selection, types of snack/beverage at mealtimes, and respecting their preference for games, puzzles and crafts during the activity.

Happiness

Happiness is what we hope our residents can maintain daily. Through forging and building relationships with peers and staff at SAAH, we derive satisfaction to see them smile and enjoy the moment.
