Autism Lasts A Lifetime

People on the autism spectrum can oftentimes be misinterpreted and misunderstood. So, what exactly is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or autism as it is commonly known?

  • It is a neurodevelopmental disorder and is not contagious like the common flu
  • It tends to affects communication and the way one relates with others
  • It is a spectrum disorder, ranging from mild, to moderate to severe
  • Autism lasts a lifetime
  • No two persons with autism are alike. Each individual on the spectrum is unique.

Some traits of autism include:

  1. Difficulty understanding and responding to non-verbal cues in communication and social interactions
  2. Tendency towards repetitive patterns of behaviour
  3. Tendency towards sensory issues
