Journeying With Families

There are about 50,000 people on the autism spectrum in Singapore. Even as awareness of autism has grown over the years, more can be done to support the community of individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a lifelong condition.

It is therefore vital that programmes and services address a continuum of care throughout the lifespan of autistic individuals.

For families with members on the spectrum, concerns about care arrangements for their children as they age weigh heavily on hearts. Since its inception in 2005, St. Andrew’s Autism Centre (SAAC) endeavoured to journey with families for as long as we are able.

Beyond supporting families during their child’s school going years with our special education school, and throughout their adult life at our Day Activity Centres, we wanted to be able to walk further and longer with individuals on the spectrum in our care. Hence, SAAH was conceived.

We are grateful for the opportunity to co-develop and operate Singapore’s first residential facility for adults on the autism spectrum. Right from the start, SAAC worked towards developing a specialised residential space that is comfortable and nurturing; an abode where residents feel at home, and can look forward to spending time in. For our residents and their families, we hope to be the home that they enjoy coming home to.
